The following are suitable for growing outdoors on allotments and have varying levels of resistance. On bad years most will succumb eventually but not before the season naturally ends.

They can be expensive to buy so well worth seeking end-of-season offers.

Resistant

Cocktail Crush F1 (Tested – Excellent resistance)
Cocktail Crush is a smaller, fruited, sweeter sister to Crimson Crush with a complex tangy flavour. Often considered to be the blight-resistant Ailsa Craig – the classic salad Tomato with great flavour and suitable for both indoor and outdoor growing.

Crimson Crush F1 (Tested – Excellent resistance)
Crimson Crush is an excellent UK-bred blight-resistant variety. It will produce a heavy crop of large round tomatoes, with a good flavour. Not an over vigorous variety, so good for smaller gardens. Crimson Crush is well worth a try if you have struggled with growing tomatoes previously.

Crimson Cherry F1 (Untested)
The first blight-resistant cherry-sized tomato, perfect to grow outside in the UK. Resistant to both early and late blight and good resistance to Fusarium and Verticillium. Great flavour with a good sweetness (9 Brix) and a satisfying ‘tang’ which makes you want more.

Crimson Blush F1 (Untested)
Large beefsteak fruits with the sweet flavour of a cherry Tomato! Tomato ‘Crimson Blush’ is the first blight-resistant variety specifically developed for growing outdoors. The glossy, scarlet fruits are perfect for slicing into burgers, salads and sandwiches for a delicious taste of summer.

Tolerant

Ferline F1 (Tested – limited resistance)
A cordon salad tomato suitable for growing in a greenhouse or outdoors. It produces heavy crops of large red salad tomatoes and has good disease resistance.

Tomatoberry Garden F1 (Tested – limited resistance)
Tomatoberry tomato produces cascading trusses (up to 80cm) of sweetheart, and strawberry-shaped fruits with an outstanding super-sweet flavour and a delightful aroma.

Lizzano F1 (Untested)
Get hold of tomato Lizzano, a perfect cheery plum tomato for growing outdoors in hanging baskets

Burlesque F1 (Tested – limited resistance)
Burlesque tomatoes are easy to pick and show no cracking. Excellent blight resistance makes this useful beefsteak for outdoor growing in central and southern Europe.
